Die Berliner Eisfabrik

Last month has brought lots of bad news for Berlin's once landmark-protected Eisfabrik. First, a party by some Facebook kids lead to a massive fire in one of the Eisfabrik's main buildings. Two weeks later, the real estate owner TLG Immobilien happily announces their demolition plan for parts of the building ensemble.

TLG seems to have been waiting for a chance to pull the trigger. The illegal FB party provided a good basis for TLG to get an official clearance for the demolition. Public protests against the TLG demolition continue and the TLG sent a 24-hour security to make sure the demolition is not being interrupted in any way.
